Our friends from many of the various travel industry trade groups are conspicuous by their silence on many of the key technology issues of the day. If interactive technology and on-line booking are the key developments many people (including me) believe them to be, where are position papers from the trade group folks discussing how their members should respond to technology-driven changes in the business environment?

There are a number of essential questions about customers, platforms, disintermediation, and strategy that one could ask and reasonably expect the agent advocacy groups to answer. One wonders precisely what activities occupy their time that are more important?
