NOTES:"Succeeded his mother in her share of the Abernethy lands, was esquire to the Earl of Angus, Kt. 1358, Baron 1369, justiciary 1378. Married firstly, 1358, Catherine, daughter of Sir John Stirling, and heiress of Glenesk."

NOTES:"Obtained the Barony by charter 17 January, 1365/1366, on the resignation of his brother, Sir Alexander of Glenesk. Sir William was a celebrated knight -- one of the 'Enfants de Lindsay' commemorated by Froissart.
He married Christiana, daughter of Sir William Mure, of Abercorn, with whom he obtained that Barony, and died before 1 July, 1393"
