NOTES:"One of the Barons who signed and sealed the letter to the Pope 1320, affirming the independence of Scotland, and was an Ambassador to England 1349 and 1351. He was custodian of Edinburgh and Berwick castles. He married (dispensation dated 1325) Maria, daughter and co-heir (with her sister Margaret, Countess of Angus) of Sir Alexander de Abernethy, and widow of Andrew de Leslie".
